Transcript of oral history interview with Andrew Kamarck held on November 2, 1985 : First interview session

In November 1985, Andrew Kamarck was interviewed on behalf of the World Bank Group Archives oral history program by Robert W. Oliver for the George Woods biography. During his tenure at the Bank from 1950 to 1979, Mr. Kamarck worked in the following areas: as an economic advisor in the departments of operations for Europe, Africa, and Australasia (1952-1962) and for Africa (1962-1965); as a director for the economics department (1965-1971) and for the Economics Development Institute (EDI) (1972-1977); and as a senior fellow for EDI (1977-1979). His transcript concerns the reorganization of the World Bank in 1952 when the loan and economic departments merged. Economic advisors did not want to become loan officers.
